Honey Baked Beans with Bacon
By The Farm

These honey baked beans combine tender navy beans, smoky bacon, onion, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce in a sweet-savory glaze. They bake until thick and bubbling for an easy barbecue, picnic, or potluck side dish.
Makes: 4 to 6 servings
Oven: 350°F
Ingredients
- 4 slices bacon, diced
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 4 1/2 cups cooked navy beans
- 1/2 cup Weeks Honey Farm Georgia Wildflower Honey
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
How to Make Honey Baked Beans
- Preheat the oven. Heat the oven to 350°F.
- Cook the bacon and onion. Add the diced bacon and chopped onion to a skillet. Sauté until the bacon is cooked and the onion is tender. Carefully drain excess fat if needed.
- Combine. Add the bacon mixture, cooked navy beans, honey, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce to a shallow 2-quart oven-safe baking dish. Stir until evenly mixed.
- Bake covered. Cover with a lid or aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Finish uncovered. Remove the cover and bake for 45 minutes more, until the sauce is thick and the beans are hot and bubbling.
- Rest and serve. Let the beans stand for a few minutes before serving; the sauce will continue to thicken slightly.
Tips and Serving Ideas
- Use fully cooked canned navy beans, drained, for an easy shortcut.
- Prepare the mixture ahead, refrigerate it covered, and bake when needed.
- Serve alongside grilled chicken, burgers, ribs, pulled pork, or grilled vegetables.
- For a little heat, add chili powder or cayenne to taste.
